Can they get any dumber?

When you talk of politicians in high office, are there more plain idiotic Democrats or Republicans? I tend to think the latter. There may be some crazy Democrats out there, but no Democrats would say something as stupid as implying that Muslims will overrun the country if Keith Ellison doesn't use a Bible at his swearing-in photo-op.

This whole Keith Ellison swearing-in issue has been hilarious if for no other reason than it has exposed the reptile brains of many Republicans. Plus, for the more intelligent out there, you can't help but laugh at the fact that these people insist on using the Bible because it is "the word of God"...but only if you use the Bible that was commissioned by some English king several hundred years ago. I wonder how many of them even realize there is more than one Bible out there?

  2. Keith Ellison isn't even an immigrant, as Virgil Goode seems to believe. Ellison was born in Detroit in 1963 into a Catholic family, and converted to Islam in college.

  3. This comment may be too rational for this issue, but isn't the purpose of an oath before a higher power lost if the person doing the swearing doesn't believe in the faith embodied in the holy book used?

This issue confuses me. Why again would a Muslim swear on a Christian bible....?

  4. Anyone who disagrees with Keith Ellison's decision to take his oath of office upon the Koran is Un-American.

This nation was founded on a principle of religious freedom. To state an elected official MUST swear oath upon a certain books throws in the face of all the Framers and the ideals this nation stands for.

Granted liberals are only coming to Ellison's defense because he is Muslim, they still cannot stand for what Rep. Goode is claiming.

  6. "This whole Keith Ellison swearing-in issue has been hilarious if for no other reason than it has exposed the reptile brains of many Republicans." Rep. Goode was elected for a long time as a Democrat from Virginia. Granted it's in the redneck in Shenandoah Valley area. He only recently switched parties. I believe in the last four years. I don't think either party is trying to claim Rep. Goode represents their beliefs. He is a nut not the party he is labeled with presently or in the past.
