21st Century Democrats fined

A "527" group called 21st Century Democrats was fined today for violating disclosure laws. These laws are very important for campaign finance law, and if this group violated them, they deserve the fine.

Wow! It's possible to find fault with groups that are ideologically similar to you. I hope people take note!

So noted and appreciated. Even the Strib isn't pleased, a rare kudo to them.

But the larger point remains IMO that campaign finance won't work. As the carpetbagger in "Roots" (Burl Ives) observed (approximately), "If Brer Rabbit finds he can't go one way to where he wants to go, he finds another." Even Common Cause has been disappointed that the results haven't matched the expectation.

There will always be loopholes, left and right. And do we want the Government passing judgement as to whether the Swift Vets or Michael Moore's efforts are in-kind contributions?

No limits, just full, immediate disclore. It's the only answer.
