The new set of values

I don't have much to say about this story in today's Star Tribune, about the rise in enrollments at private Christian colleges lately. I am pretty uninterested in what fundamentalists do with their time. However, one part did jump out at me. At Northwestern College, the emphasis in one values, and students are held to "strict standards." On the other hand, "ideas" like Intelligent Design creationism are taught.

Funny, I didn't know that lying to students was an important Christian value. Is that in the student handbook somewhere?

And don't forget demonizing your gay neighbors and family members and trying to take their civil rights, Social Security and health care benefits away too. That's one of their Christian values too!

I swear if/when Jesus comes back, these folks will crucify him all over again in heartbeat. Torture him too, albeit, in in a new updated fashion. Maybe in Guantanomo Bay or somewhere in one of our CIA torture camps in Poland.

Who knows? In fact, Jesus might already be back in and one of those places. The New Testament says no one knows the time or place.
