Colleen Rowley running for Congress

Colleen Rowley is running for Congress in the 2nd district against John Kline. I don't know what to think about this. She's got a high name ID, which is good. This is her first foray into politics, though, and it's in some ways too bad that DFLers don't have more depth in their bench. But at the same time, where did John Kline and Mark Kennedy come from? All in all, it's too early to know what will happen.

She'll do better than Theresa Daly, but I don't think she'll oust Kline. I've got a feeling that we'll see a troop reduction next Summer just in time to help out Bush loyalists like Kline.

From Rowley's speeches regarding 9/11, she seems to think very little of civil liberties. That tough talk might play well in Kline's district; but she might have a tough time finding support from the party faithful once they get beyond name recognition. People wrongly assume that since she was a "whistle blower" while Bush was in office that she's on the right side of the issues. In fact, she was dead wrong about the warrant for the "20th highjacker".

Better a conservative DFLer than any stripe of Republican!
