Right-wing peas in a pod

A lot of people blew their tops when it was implied that right-wing Republicans like Michelle Bachmann are really not that far from the Fred Phelps wackos that protest funerals. Are they really that far apart?

Well, the Department of Health is cutting funding for the Minnesota AIDS hotline, which has been in service for twenty years. Some see this as the right-wing's continuing attacks on the Minnesota AIDS Project. Attacking this program is nothing new to far-right conservatives.

Seeing as how Fred Phelps and his brainwashed acolytes like to carry signs that say things like "AIDS Cures Fags", I'm sure they would very much approve of this step by the Department of Health.

This isn't about sexually explicit langauge. Read some of the things the MN AIDS project has produced over the years, they are dehumanizing. There's no reason we can't have a discussion about AIDS and treat people with respect.

There is nothing "dehumanizing" about the Minnesota AIDS Project, which provides services to half of the Living with HIV population in Minnesota. What's "dehumanizing" is that the Religious Right is attacking GLBT and Immigrant communities who are the most at risk. What does "respect" have to do with denying people accurate information and service referrals for Safe Sex and HIV? Sounds more like a moral crusade by those who pretend to ignore that human sexual behavior exists, without which they themselves would not exist.
