An Inconvenient Truth II
One anonycommenter says that there still is some controversy among scientists and points to some Washington Post article. This issue is so important Gore addresses it directly in the film.
Of over 900 articles reviewed by Gore in peer-reviewed scientific journals, the places where only facts are allowed to be published and there is no such thing as "he said, she said" journalism, a whopping total of 0% said that global warming does not exist or there is a controversy as to its human cause.
Of over 600 articles reviewed in the popular press, the places where lazy journalists get one quote from one side and another quote from the other side and call it a day, not bothering with objective facts, 53% of articles said there was a controversy.
The media is doing more than a disservice when it says there is a controversy about global warming. It is lying. This would seem wrong or even downright evil until you realize that the goal of media outlets like the Washington Post is not to tell the truth or educate people, it is to sell papers and make money. Controversy sells, so that's what they write.
On the other hand, after thinking about it some more it is evil.

Amazing. The main guy making the statements is a scientist from Colorado State University who is considered the nation's preeminent hurricane expert.
When someone like that is speaking how can you deny that there's no controversy here?
And the rest of article is an analysis of other voices that haven't bought into the idea that rising global temperatures are solely the result of human generated carbon dioxide emissions. Does these people not exist either?
The fact that you consider it "evil" to even point this out tells me that you're treating this like someone is trying to tell you your religious beliefs are wrong or something. Grow up! It's possible for someone to disagree with you on an issue and not be "evil".
You're certainly entitled to your opinion on global warming (and you may well be right), but to completely deny that there are credible experts in the climatology field who disagree with Al Gore is sort of sad and speaks volumes about your intellectual maturity.
As soon as the expert publishes his scientific findings in a peer-reviewed journal instead of sharing his opinions with the Washington Post, I will put some stock in his statements.
Fair enough.
But you will also have to ignore all public statements, opinions or conclusions (past or future) made by Al Gore on the subject of global warming, because, after all, he has never published any scientific findings in a peer-reviewed journal either.
We wouldn't want to be intellectually inconsistent now would we?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
An Inconvenient Truth is not impressive because Al Gore is giving the presentation; anybody could do it. What is impressive is the wealth of scientific studies and conclusions brought together and summarized in a nice package. No, of course Gore isn't a climate expert. He's just somebody who has sought out science and made a presentation out of it.
Actually the article referring to the 928 articles was pushed in Science magazine, not research Gore himself did. Gore simply cited it.
What are you doing about it? Please quantify, if possible. I've my own items, which I will share when you do so.
