Oh no! Brown people praying!

It happened in Minnesota, and it's political, so what's wrong with commenting on the injustice of six Muslims being kicked off of a plane for, um, looking Muslim and praying as far as I can tell.

Every time something like this happens, Muslims around the world like the U.S. a little bit less and Osama bin Laden gets a smile on his face.

I wonder: if I had been on that plane and yelled, "All of you ignorant racist hicks who are scared of brown people on the same plane as you can go to hell" once all of this crap started, would I have been arrested too?

Sorry, but I probably would have done the same thing, given the circumstances reported in the paper. It's called survival. When most of the major terrorist attacks of the last ten years have been perpetrated by groups of Middle-Eastern males, political correctness has to go out the window. You know, it is possible to practice your religion quietly and personally, without making a big production out of it, chanting loudly in groups, hopping around "socializing" on the plane as other people are trying to board, etc. Of course we should be more sensitive to Muslims and their religion. Maybe they should be a little more sensitive to our recent tragedies as well, especially in a place where people are going to be nervous and fearful. I guess sensitivity and sympathy go in only one direction when it comes to Islam, however.

Full disclosure: My father works in the Pentagon, and I did not know for six hours whether he was alive or not on 9/11. Fortunately, he was at his other office, so he escaped injury. Most of his co-workers were killed or injured, so that does tend to color my thinking.

That's easy to say as a white person that political correctness has to go out the window. I wonder if you'd respond the same way if whites (I'm assuming you're white) were in the minority and viewed with suspicion at airports and you were stopped for doing nothing wrong. You have to be able to look at both points of view.

Well, well, well, looks like there was a lot more to this story than was first reported. Shouting "Allah" at the top of your lungs, switching seats without permission to be near all of the exits on the plane, asking for seat belt extenders and then not using them, but putting them on the floor. Yep, just a bunch of innocent Muslim tourists getting profiled. Oh and by the way, one of the imams has been connected with a terrorist group. Lovely. I turn these guys in, no matter if they're brown or not.
