I am a pretty nice guy.
If the charges are true and he is found guilty, he should resign. I have no tolerance for someone who would physically assault a woman except in true self-defense, although I will reserve judgment until all of the facts are out. Unfortunately, in domestic cases, one side sometimes exaggerates their case to gain an advantage. Not saying it happened here, but let's let everything shake out.
As to your comment about "family values" proponents being bad people, be careful, as there are people on both sides who have been less than upstanding citizens. Just look at Chief Bonnie "Caligula" Bleskachek, who has cost the taxpayers almost half a million dollars to date, and had another lawsuit filed against her yesterday. Should she have resigned months ago, and saved the city from embarrassment and more monetary damages?
